Every public authority subject to the Freedom of Information Act 2000 is required to adopt and maintain an approved publication scheme. A publication scheme is a commitment to routinely and proactively provide information to the public.
Previously, the ICO’s expiry policy stated that publication schemes must be submitted for re-approval four years after the original date of approval.
As part of the Development and Maintenance Initiative, a wide ranging review into publication schemes, the Information Commissioner’s Office has updated the expiry policy, extending the approval of all existing schemes until 31 December 2008.
