The diagrams below show both the volume of cases received and closed per quarter since the Freedom of Information Act came into force and the outcomes of cases on closure for the current financial year.
These diagrams will be updated on a quarterly basis in order to provide information on our performance more frequently than in the Annual Report alone.
The ICO closed 769 cases between July and September 2008. The average case closure per quarter for 2007/2008 was 665.
Receipts for quarter 2 of 2008/2009 were 758. The average receipts per quarter for 2007/2008 was 655. This was higher than the average receipts for 2006/2007 (648).
The caseload snapshot shows the age of cases within a complaints team under investigation or awaiting allocation to a complaints officer as at 30 September 2008.
We remained concerned about the percentage of cases over 1 year old and continue to work hard to close older cases, however a number remain open due to the complexity of the investigation.
