The Information Commissioner's Office will be holding its Data Protection Officer Conference at the Manchester Central Convention Complex Petersfield. Building on the success of the 2008 conference this event will be an opportunity to reflect on the increased profile of data protection, following recent data losses; to share ideas and experiences on how to deal with the challenges Data Protection Officers (DPOs) face and to hear from expert speakers. Richard Thomas, the Information Commissioner, will open the event, followed by Andrew Mann, Marketing Director for Planning and Innovation at Tesco. The afternoon session will be opened by Michael Wills MP, Minister of State for data protection, followed by Government Chief Information Officer, John Suffolk. We will also be holding a series of interactive workshops ranging from how to conduct Privacy Impact Assessments to how DPOs can maximise their role within their organisation.
